1 year since I wore those little leg warmer things
So a bunch of anniversaries are due to kick off. Well, a few already did.
1 year since I moved out of my house in Marian St.

I got an email from Chris Duckenfield with a link to a yousendit.
Clicking the link brought me a zip file with remixes of a track I’d made.
Remixes were by Chris himself, Leozero and the motherfucking Unabombers!
I am a happy man. More info soon enough…
In other news, Budapest is one of the coolest cities in the world… I was lucky enough to go there last weekend where I met up with the always wonderful Vanessa, part of my gorgeous Sydney family… ahh, was so good to connect with the fam once again, especially in such ace surrounds. Beautiful warm weather, breathtaking architecture, dope thermal bath action and the coolest squat bars in the whole wide world… oh and it’s cheap as chips and the goulash is amazing. GO TO BUDAPEST NOW IF YOU CAN…

In case you didn’t know, I made a tune a couple of years ago with Andreya Triana (she who sang on FlyLo’s amazing Tea Leaf Dancers, and also on Theo’s amazing Chemistry) and Ritornell. Anyway, it’s finally being pressed, together with some epic remixes courtesy of Dorian Concept and Patrick Pulsinger and Orakel, and release date is looking like 12 June at the moment. Woohoo!

Another really great weekend!
For those who don’t know, I am in a play at the moment, some proper Shakespeare business. I play the super miserable and quite psychotic Duke Orsino and it was our opening night last night. It went well! It’s been about 17 years since I last acted (on a stage, at least) and I’d forgotten how much fun it was.
What was really great though was Ed came up for support on the night and we had a great time together, showing him round town, doin the play and then today going to watch City play terribly in a crazy pub.
This morning when we woke up, Ed mentioned that he couldn’t get a song by the Byrds out of his head. I had a listen, and realised it needed to be made into a beat. So here is the beat.

Bloody hell!
Sometimes you get sent a weekend from heaven.
And then other times, life is shithouse.
Today has been like the most evil suicide tuesday EVER, and I’m cleaner than I’ve been in over a decade. Is this what life is like for all the straighty one eighties? Pass me the fuckin crack pipe…
Anyway, it seemed appropriate to get some of this shit out of me in a manner that didn’t involve some sort of abuse, so I bring you a new Some Freak production today, a short, moody, dirty, shitty, angry, fucked-up, goddam-you-why-did-you-do-that beat with a fabulous name that came to me today in the car when I was doing my best not to drive into things.
So on my trip to Paris I was fortunate enough to check out an exhibition by a French artist called Jacques Villeglé, who robbed posters off the street, cut them up and made something new with them: moving works of art which still referenced their original form but became something else as well.
Heavily inspired by this, and having recently discovered granulation (thanks Richard + Cleptoclectics!), I robbed some mp3s of classical tunes I liked (again, inspired by the Paris trip; this time the merging of electronic and classical music witnessed at the Carl Craig concert) and started granulating those bad boys.
And this is the result. Three tracks, no beats in sight, mellow wintery beauty for you. Certainly the most experimental thing I’ve ever done; it’s been quite fun indeed.
